Dec 19- 1918 - My dear Cecil -

I have spent a wonderfull afternoon - wandering amongst the ruins of this old citidel. Built by Louis 14th. There is much more left than you can see in picture. You don't know how glad I was for the opportunity of going thru a place like this. It is like looking from the top of a great precipice to look from the ruins down upon the city. will write more soon-
