FIFTH BAND DEPARTS
FOR HEADQUARTERS
----------
LEFT DANVILLE OVER THE WA-
BASH RAILROAD FOR QUIN-
CY FRIDAY MORNING.
----------

Danville's second contingent to be called into service because of the war with Germany left Friday morning for Quincy. It was the Fifth Regiment band and the members, who had been waiting for several weeks for the call, were eager to go and are willing to perform any task the government may ask of them. Twenty-five men compose the band, just three short of the number needed. These vacancies will be filled up quickly as soon as Quincy is reached, as there are a number of former regimental musicians living in that city. The band was in charge of J.H. Salladay, bandmaster, and Jack Snapp, leader, and they occupied a special coach attached to the regular westbound morning train leaving Danville at about 9:30 o'clock.
