Leah Snyder
OAKWOOD, Ill. — Leah W. Snyder, 88, a resident of 3535 N. Vermilion for the past three years and a resident of Oakwood the rest of her life, died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 12, 1985) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She had been a patient three days.
She was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge. Her hobbies were reading, gardening and crocheting.
Born Feb. 9, 1897, in Oakwood, she was the daughter of Elijah Newton and Maggie Sampson Longstreth. She married Harold Snyder, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Maxey of Danville; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Lakeside Funeral Home in Oakwood. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Gromley will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
