Nicholas Massalino at Camp Logan

Paul lists Messileno as a member of the 5th Regiment Band in a letter dated August 14, 1917. On a picture of the band taken at Camp Parker Paul identified one of the trombone players as Nicholas Musolino. On a picture of four trombone players from the "Old 5th Reg. Band" taken at Camp Logan his name is spelled Massalino.

He is not listed in the roster of Headquarters Company, 129th Infantry, 33rd Division, on its return to the United States nor in the list of former members.

He may have been among band members from the former Headquarters Company, 5th Illinois Infantry, who were transfered to the 304 Cavalry (later the 54th Field Artillery) which trained at Camp Stanley, twenty miles northwest of San Antonio, Texas.
