Stella Dodd was born in December 1896 in Peru, Illinois, whereshe was living with her family in 1900 and 1910.
Her father, Thomas Dodd, was a native of England who came to the United States in 1853 when he was about a year old. On July 10, 1888 in Ford County, Illinois, Thomas married Mary Sharff.
The Dodds had eight children, one of whom died young before 1900. The other children were Jacob, born August 1889; Mary, born March 1894; Walter, born January 1900; Arthur, born about 1903; Ethel, born about 1907, and Dorothy, born about 1910.
About 1912, the family moved to Quincy where Stella met Paul B while he was in training there.
Stella was a nurse and about August 1918 she left Quincy and went to Bartonville in Peoria County to work at the state mental hospital there. Unfortunately, after being at the hospital about three months, she contracted influenza. After an illness of a week, she died on November 14, 1918.
